The Advocacy Associates Foundation is a led by trauma-informed educators and community facilitators who have personally lived through natural disasters. As survivors and strategists, we understand the emotional and systemic toll these events take — especially on children and whānau still navigating the aftermath.
We deliver regionally based support programmes for tamariki and families affected by Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), climate grief, and disaster-related anxiety. What sets us apart is that we’re not offering distant, theoretical solutions — we’re walking the journey with the communities we serve. Our work is grounded in empathy, experience, and deep cultural understanding.

These mediums provide a safe outlet to externalise emotions, build emotional vocabulary, and begin healing. Often, they open people up in truly transformational ways, while also strengthening community connection and shared understanding.
Day trips to natural spaces with guided breathwork sessions and sensory grounding practices inspired by Silvotherapy and Reconnected frameworks.
Breathwork and connecting with nature is one of the most accessible, powerful tools we have for calming the nervous system, releasing trauma, and building resilience.
Therapeutic sharing circles where children process grief and change through tactile creation and story-sharing, informed by proven grief-support methodologies. In a world that’s lost the art of ritual and meaningful rites of passage, these circles follow in the footsteps of our ancestors—reviving empowerment practices like the Hero’s Heart to raise resilient, happy, and successful young people.
